Because Palm Oil Isn’t as Innocent as It Sounds
Palm oil is used everywhere because it’s cheap and versatile, but its production often comes with serious consequences. Large areas of rainforest are cleared to make way for plantations, destroying habitats, harming biodiversity and pushing vulnerable species closer to extinction.
There’s also a human cost. Communities are displaced, working conditions can be harsh, and the drive for cheap production often means workers aren’t treated fairly.
